Alvis Personal App for Tracking Spending, Budgets and Savings Goals

About this app

Budget Tracker shows you, on your phone, how much you have left to spend this month — and keeps it true with every peso you record: expenses by category, monthly budgets, wallets, bills and savings goals.

For anyone in the Philippines paid twice a month who wonders where the sweldo went. Pesos, cash, GCash, Maya, bank accounts and credit cards — and it opens like an app: a home screen, a tab bar, the camera for receipts.

At a glance

  • This month: what is left to spend and how much of the budget is used; what you spent today, this week and this month
  • Quick actions: add an expense, save, see your balances and budgets
  • Upcoming bills, this month's budgets with what is left of each, your savings goals and spending per month

1. Every peso, in a few taps

Record an expense, income or a transfer between wallets. Every expense comes out of a budget, so the app knows what is spent and what is left. Activity opens on your newest entries.

  • Receipt photo straight from the camera
  • Scan the QR or barcode on a receipt, or type the GCash, Maya or bank reference
  • Where: "Use my location" remembers where you spent it

2. A budget for every category, every month

Your first month gets a budget per category (food, transport, rent, padala…). Change any; each new month starts with the month before's.

  • What is left of every budget, with a status: on track, almost used, used up, over budget and a bar of how much is used
  • You are told when an expense puts a budget over — it is still recorded, because life happens
  • The next month starts by itself three days before a month ends — or tap Start next month sooner. The old month stays open for late entries
  • Close month when it is over: it takes no new entries, changes or deletions until you reopen it
  • Picked the wrong year? Correct it: the month's dates and budgets follow
  • This month follows the calendar: totals and new entries use today's month

3. See where the money went

Tap This week, This month or This year: spent and earned, by category, how you paid, your biggest expenses.

4. Bills that remind you

Rent, Meralco, Netflix: add them once. The Bills tab lists what is due. Pay a bill opens a new expense; pick the bill in "Pays bill" (now or later) and the next due date moves on. You get a reminder three days before, the due date written out.

5. Savings goals and wallets

Each goal has a target, a date and a picture; deposits add up and the day you reach it is marked (and unmarked if you take money back out).

  • Balances shows what is in your wallets, what is in your savings goals, and what you owe on your cards
  • You can't spend or save more than a wallet has (a credit card: up to its limit) or take out more than a goal has — nor change or delete anything so a wallet or goal goes below zero

6. A monthly summary to print

Income, spending, each budget against what was spent, and every entry — plus reports by category, wallet, source and month.

The monthly budget summary

Private: your money is yours alone

Everyone you invite sees only their own wallets, entries, budgets, bills and goals — so do the app's owner and the workspace's builders: never yours. Only the category list is shared, kept by the owner.

What it doesn't do

It doesn't import from your bank, GCash or card, split shared expenses, share a budget or track investments. Only the owner adds categories. Deleting a bill payment doesn't move the due date back. No refunds into a budget — lower the expense instead. The over-budget notice comes when you add an expense, not when you change one. Bill reminders and the month starting by itself need a plan with timed automations.

Getting started

  1. Add your wallets with what each has today, and mark the one you use most.
  2. Owner: check the categories and their starting amounts.
  3. Add this month under Months: its budgets are made for you.
  4. Add your bills and savings goals, then record what you spend as you go.
  5. Close each month when it is over.
