Alvis Built-in Learning Management System for Schools in the Philippines (DepEd and CHED)

About this app

Alvis School LMS is a complete learning management system for Philippine schools: classes, lessons, assignments, online quizzes and exams, a DepEd gradebook, report cards and attendance, with portals for teachers, students and parents.

Built for DepEd basic education (Grades 1–12) and CHED colleges: the gradebook follows DepEd Order No. 8, s. 2015, and colleges grade by Prelim, Midterm and Finals with the 1.00–5.00 equivalent.

Dashboard at a glance

  • Work to score, missing work and quizzes and exams open now
  • Average score per exam, pass rate, to-do status and attendance; students and parents see their own

1. Classes, lessons and class lists

Each class page holds its class list, lessons, activities, exams, gradebook and attendance.

  • Lessons: text, a video that plays on the page (YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Google Drive) and handouts
  • Class lists: adding a student opens their gradebook rows for the year
  • Class email group: exam notices and announcements go to the class's group address

2. Assignments, to-dos and teacher scoring

Publishing an activity puts it on every student's to-do list. Students turn in an answer, file or link; the teacher scores it with feedback or returns it.

  • To-do status: Assigned, Turned in, Turned in late, Missing, Returned, Graded or Excused
  • Reminders: an email the day before it's due; unsubmitted work is marked missing the next morning and the parent is told
  • Scores can't exceed the highest possible score and go straight to the gradebook

3. Online quizzes and exams

Write quizzes, long tests and periodical exams with an answer key: single choice, multiple choice, short answer and numeric, with points and explanations. The server scores every attempt.

  • Paging: one question per page, all on one page, or N per page with a question navigator
  • Time limit: a server clock that keeps running if the page is closed; it submits itself at zero, and late sheets are marked late and not passed
  • Shuffling: questions and choices in a new order per attempt
  • Attempts: one for graded exams; practice quizzes allow retakes and show the answers
  • Exam schedule: opens by itself on its opening date, closes after its last day; attempts outside the window are refused
  • Answer keys never reach students

4. Gradebook and reports

  • DepEd computation: every score lands here; Written Work, Performance Tasks and Quarterly Assessment weighted per subject (editable) and transmuted
  • Standing so far and at-risk flags mid-quarter
  • Release: students and parents see grades once released, only when every part has scores
  • 12 reports: class performance, at-risk students, missing work, exam results, attempts per exam, score distribution, final grades and more

5. Report cards and printouts

  • Report Card (K–12): quarters 1–4, final grade and remarks per learning area, with attendance
  • College Grade Report: Prelim, Midterm, Finals and the 1.00–5.00 grade
  • Exam Result Slip and Class Record

Role-based access management

  • School Admin: setup, people, classes and everything in them
  • Principal / Dean: every class and report; school announcements; releases grades
  • Teacher: only their own classes
  • Student: their classes, to-dos, exams and released grades, only as themselves
  • Parent: follows every child whose guardian email is theirs, read-only
14 roles

What it doesn't do

Open-ended exam questions aren't scored (give essays as activities). No per-question item analysis yet, and the report card isn't the official SF9 form.

Getting started

  1. Put your school name and logo in Settings → Branding (they head every printout) and review the subject weights.
  2. Add the school year, teachers and students (with parents' emails).
  3. Create classes and fill the class lists.
  4. Invite teachers, students and parents with their roles.
